Beijing, China – 18 October 2023 — The “Contributing to Policymaking in Occupational Safety and Health in China and the EU” project reached a significant milestone with its second and final Advisory Board Meeting held on October 18, 2023, in Beijing. The meeting welcomed representatives of the key stakeholder organisations and Dr. Gregor Kemper, chief of International Relations of DGUV. The agenda included discussions on project outcomes, the final project report endorsement, and plans for disseminating achievements in both China and the EU.
The Advisory Board, represented by esteemed members, deliberated on the joint analysis of collected data to formulate evidence-based preventive measures, with a particular emphasis on expanding initiatives to green industries and addressing occupational tumours.
Following the Advisory Board Meeting, an essential session took place involving DGUV, MEM (Ministry of Emergency Management), and the German Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS). The collaborative effort aimed to explore the potential extension of the project’s methodologies to additional industries in China, especially in emerging green sectors. Discussions also focused on enhancing the methods based on feedback from participating companies and MEM authorities at the provincial level.
Dr Carsten Stender, Head of Department VI (European and international employment and social policy, ESF, digital transformation) at BMAS, expressed gratitude for the successful collaboration and echoed the EU’s interest in continuing support for such initiatives. The project’s achievements, including the collection of high-quality data and the enthusiastic participation of companies, were highlighted.
The project, guided by its commitment to data-driven policymaking, is set to present its findings in December 2023 during the EU-China Dialogue, fostering international collaboration in the realm of occupational safety and health.
